Space Mountain & Faith

Here is just a sneak peek into our wonderfully relaxing and fun-filled trip to Disney.

On Day 2, at the very end of our day, we decided to all ride Space Mountain.  As we got closer to getting onto the ride I became increasingly more nervous about Anna being able to ride because she is just so little.  Even though she met the height requirements she can sometimes be very fearful and I didn't want to ruin a possible love for coasters and rides because of Space Mountain.  I kept trying to prep her by saying it would be dark, etc.  Once on the ride we put her in the middle seat between Grandma and myself and like Scott is doing above, I sat forward and kept my hands on her shoulders during the whole ride.  Scott just kept whooping and hollering behind me about how awesome the ride was while I was a nervous wreck about Anna.  I kept asking her if she was okay and she would reply, "Yes Mommy!"  Once the ride came to a finish and we all hopped off she was ecstatically overjoyed with all the fun she had just experienced.  Whew!  So, as we headed back the next day the first thing on the little girls' agenda was to ride Space Mountain again.  YEAH!  I decided I would sit it out, along with Grandpa, and so Daddy and the two little girls were off for round 2!  Again, they were all flying high with excitement once they got off the ride...so much so that Scott was bound and determined to pay out the wazoo for this picture to capture the moment!  This is one of those times that you go against your "senses" and "Just Do It!" because it was such a priceless time for Daddy and his girls!  What a fabulous memory and keepsake!  Anyhow, after round 2 on Space Mountain we headed to Mickey's Toontown Fair.  We got autographs from Cinderella, Aurora, Mickey & Minnie and then the girls played in Donald Duck's Water Area/Boat.  We then convinced the girls it was time to ride Goofy's Barnstopper Kiddie Coaster.  I sat with Anna and Scott went with Kate.  As we headed up the first (and only hill) Anna was stricken with fear and held on to me for dear life.  After that her coaster riding energy was zapped and she wouldn't ride anymore.  What dawned on me was this....on Space Mountain, which was super, duper scary, more dangerous, and more of a roller coaster, Anna couldn't see where she was going.  She had to fully rely on the fact her parents told her it would be fun, she would be safe, and she trusted us!  On Goofy's Barnstopper Kiddie Coaster, Anna could see for herself what was involved and doubted her safety.  When she doubted her safety and trust in her parents, she was not able to fully enjoy the experience because she was tense with anticipation of danger.  Can you see the spiritual connection I am making here?  WOW!  Powerful lessons were learned and moments to cherish through Space Mountain and my six year old daughter.  The Lord is so good....all the time!

PS:  You notice I wasn't worried about Kate.  She is going to be a die-hard coaster fan!  What is so precious and awesome is that my Daddy introduced me to coasters when I was about Kate's age.  He and I would ride them together at Cedar Point every summer.  It really warms my heart that Scott is doing the same with our little Kate (and Anna).
