Merry Christmas Morning!

At our house, Santa's gifts are unwrapped and left inside this Santa bag.  Anna is checking to be sure she got everything out of it.  I don't know about you or if you struggle with this sometimes, but this Christmas I could tell we had missed the mark.  I felt like we were really struggling to figure out the hot ticket item.  I think part of it is because the girls know there is no Wii or DS in their future.  We just simply think we can live without these items for right now and don't feel the need to welcome more "screen time" into our life.  The girls did receive the portable DVD player because those can be a lifesaver, but I must admit, I struggled whether to get one or not.  They have really began to enjoy reading for pleasure and will even do so in the car.  We have learned to really enjoy listening to books on CD during long trips.  Scott talked me into the DVD because it was a good deal and I don't regret it.

Kate was relentless this year with her questions about Santa (saving for another post) and I think I felt extra pressure.  With such a crazy December and adjusting to having the girls at home during this month, I just never felt as though I never had my ducks in a row, which left me feeling unusually more emotional and vulnerable.  Oh well!  Rise up and Rock on as my FUN Aunt Kelie would say.  We were certainly counting our blessings.  I got Scott an air tool set he wanted and he and the girls got me a sewing machine that has applique and embroidery functions.  I love it and think it is completely perfect!  Kate has been soooooo excited about this present since like August!  No joke!  The girls must have told me 10 times or more, "Mom, Dad says we don't have enough money for you to buy a sewing machine."  "Mom, you aren't going to go buy a sewing machine, right?"  Precious!  I was so touched by this gift because it showed they are so attentive to me and my interests, and my hope to share this interest and hobby with them.

My favorite part of the morning is when the girls open their presents from one another....
