Sewing, sewing, sewing...practice!

I am very hopeful the girls will learn how to sew.  Kate asked for a kid's sewing machine for Christmas and got one from my parents.  Daddy and I got her a sewing book for kids...  Love it!!

I had told them on Thursday night if we did another round of school lessons we could do no school on Friday and just have fun, the whole day, doing whatever they would like...DEAL!  Most of the local schools had had snow days that week.  It was a great feeling to know we had kept moving forward in schoolwork, yet still able to have fun!  I reminded the girls we get opportunities for extra fun all the time so we don't need snow days.  I also have been trying to motivate them that if we keep working really hard we will be finished with school before their "school" friends, so once the weather warms up we can enjoy trips to the park and zoo!  Anywho, here are some pictures of the girls practicing their sewing skills...

In case you are curious, they started just "stitching" without thread on the line of a piece of notebook paper.  They then had to stitch between the two lines.  Once they had this pretty much mastered, there are pages within the book you can copy and have them learn/practice how to pivot.  It was so much fun, they worked on it for at least an hour, wanted to do more the following day, and then we did some simple sewing projects together.  I will post pictures of those another day because I haven't even taken pictures yet.
