I hate ticks! Hate.Them. Lord, why did you create ticks? While asking, why did you also create lice, flies, and mosquitos? UGH! Well, it seems it is going to be a bad, bad, bad tick season. We are usually "on top of it" in getting Frontline on the pooch but this year we are behind schedule. Of course the year the ticks are so bad. Last Friday I found 7 of them before 9:00 am. Yep, that means they were probably crawling all over us while we were sleeping. GROSS!! Since then we are on the upwards of approximately 15 ticks. My friend, who also lives in the country, found 18+ on her dog alone. UGH! Do you see why I.Hate.Ticks!! On Sunday during our Family Quiet Time Anna and Kate came running out to me and said there is something in Anna's ear. Sure enough, it was a tick and it was attached. Seriously. She went hysterical! Kate did too because she was scared for her sister. Why do children always ask those inquisitive questions during a crisis? "Mommy, do you get diseases from ticks? Can people die from ticks? Don't ticks suck your blood Mommy?" Oh my! About 45 minutes later, after buckets of tears, Mommy and Daddy finally removed the tick from Anna's ear. During the process I was explaining to her that Daddy was taking Cash to the vet on Monday to get tick medicine. Anna asked, "Mommy, do they make tick medicine for kids? They should so children don't get ticks stuck on them." All of that to say.....PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILDREN FOR TICKS!! Some of them are very small. Check all over their head and around their ears. Here is my helpful hint for killing them....put them in Scotch tape. It suffocates the little booger and yet you can still see it to make sure it is a deer tick or common dog tick. Be rest assured though, the ticks that carry Lyme disease are not common to Ohio. Praise the Lord!
