Catch Up: Trick-or-Treat

At this point, we still do a little trick-or-treating.  We love to make sure we visit Living Hope's Fall Fest, which this year was called "Monster Mash."  They had yummy Walking Tacos and hot chocolate + tons of games and coupons to Chick-Fil-A!  Seriously tons of light-hearted fall fun!  Here are a few pics of the fun had by all...

Catch Up: Thanksgiving Crafts

We had the privilege and honor of babysitting for some friends of ours who are working towards becoming foster parents to adopt.  I love babysitting with the girls for others.  We have so much fun working on coming up with our ideas of how to fill the time.  The girls are totally in to it.  Kate is really looking forward to the day she can babysit.  One goal she has is to be able to help mothers who have toddlers in tow and a new baby.  This idea was not my own but I loved it.  Kate and Anna both have a great and natural way with little ones.  Anyhow, here are some pictures of projects we did for Thanksgiving.

The Pilgrims have Landed!

Today was just one of those days that made me smile from deep down in my soul!  ;)  Both girls' classes had special things going on in their classrooms so instead of going in on Tuesday, I spent all of today at school.  The fun started last night as I found directions (click here) on how to sew an apron using a pillowcase.  I made the girls "Pilgrim" aprons since they were to dress up like Pilgrims today.  I also cut them out a Pilgrim collar.  They were ecstatic this morning to see their aprons since I made them after they went to bed last night.  In Kate's class this morning I made each one of the students a "Pilgrim" hat or bonnet.  When I was finished with that project Mrs. C sent me off to laminate!  Can I just tell you - I LOVE TO LAMINATE!!  Laminating is one of the most thrilling parts of teaching. I was in high heaven getting to laminate.  Oh, I was laminating the students' time line projects, which were so very cool!  It was great to witness the students sharing their timelines with their friends.  :)  After enjoying laminating heaven, I then had lunch with both Kate and Anna.  Their lunch times are back to back.  I went through the lunch line and enjoyed the traditional Thanksgiving meal "school style" with all the Kindergarten and First Grade Pilgrims and Indians.  What a delight!  In the afternoon I headed to Mrs. M's class with Anna Marie.  Although I didn't laminate, I got to help prepare the Mayflower and set it off to sail in her hallway.  I was in high heaven again!!  Look at those incredible 3-D sails.

After library special, the Indians (class across the hall) came to feast with the Pilgrims (Anna's class).  The feast included: Red Salmon (Swedish fish), corn (popcorn), turkey drumsticks (thick sliced deli turkey with a pretzel stuck in it), pumpkin pie (vanilla wafer cookie with pumpkin pudding on top), nuts, dried cranberries, apples, & berry punch (? - Hawaiian punch - ?).  It was an absolute hoot!  To top it all off, at the end of the day the girls were both selected to be the "Student of the Month" for their classroom. There is an assembly tomorrow and Scott will be going with me.  :)  After such a fun filled day, I was thankful to come home to leftovers, no homework since it is a short week, and the opportunity to chill out.

Homecoming Festivities

Tonight we enjoyed some of the North Union Homecoming Festivities.

So mad at myself for forgetting my camera for today's feasts at school. Oh well! I am horrible at remembering my camera. I found a few pilgrims though and brought them home with me. I thought they would be a great asset to our family...thinking they should know how to do chores like laundry, cooking, mopping, etc.

Okay...so maybe the go-go boots aren't so pilgrimy.

Thanksgiving Day Crafts

We are heading to my sister's for Turkey Day. The girls and I have been working on some crafts to make the day extra special. They LOVE crafts and said today, "Mommy, you have the best crafts." While I sometimes despise the mess and even the headache, I love doing the crafts with them and nurturing their creative juices.

We made these a few weeks ago. If you can't tell, it is supposed to be a pumpkin.
