Snow

I was going through some of my old photos and found these and I had to smile.  Today feels like fall.  We were at my nephew's birthday party and I would have loved a cup of hot chocolate!  In fact, I made the girls leave early because I began to feel the "cold" in my bones.  Anywho, these cute pictures are from this winter when the girls were "walking" their bunnies in the snow.

Ice, Ice, and even more Ice

Boy, it's been a long week and a strange week at that.  Because of an ice storm and then a dusting of flurries later in the week, we have been home bound.  Scott ended up getting off work early one night, another night of work cancelled, and then yet another night off he had scheduled so he could attend the Father-Daughter Banquet at church.  As you can imagine, by Thursday we were all stir-crazy!!  Since the banquet had been cancelled, he promised the girls to spend the entire day with them...I wasn't allowed.  He treated them to Bob Evans for lunch, a few quick errands, a late afternoon movie (Secretariat--everyone loved it) at the dollar theater, and then DQ!  It was clear to me they had had a blast because they got home at 7:30 pm and the girls fell right into bed, exhausted.  Yeah for Daddy!  Here are a few pictures of them playing out in the ICE!

First Big Snow of the Season

These pictures are from the first big snow, a couple of weeks ago, of the winter season.  We had so much fun together playing as a family outside!  Another incredible benefit and blessing of homeschooling...

YEAH...the white stuff is here!

I love the snow!  I don't like to drive in it, but I do love the snow!  If it is going to be winter, I would rather it be pretty!  Gray, cold days are depressing!  White snowy, cold days are uplifting!  The picture above is from yesterday when the storm rolled in.  So pretty!  The picture below is the girls getting ready and enjoying their first snow day of the school year!  It is SO cold outside so they only lasted about 20 minutes!  Now they are inside enjoying some yummy warm soup and hot tea!

Snow in Winter = Fun!

In years past I thought I could possibly have had a touch of the seasonal disorder as I usually got a little mopey in winter. However, I feel great this year! The SNOW is the cure! Honestly! If it is winter, then let it be winter. The snow is clean, beautiful, and fun!! Sure, it can be a lot of work too, but in my mind, the snow makes the cold worth it. I think the depressing part of winter is when it is cold, wet, slushy, and gray. The snow keeps it light, bright, and beautiful. I still feel this way even though my car is totally stuck in the driveway right now....

Exploring our Land

Scott said these are deer paths. How neat! We actually saw 5 deer in our backyard Friday night. It was awesome! When he has been back there before he said he has seen where they have created a "nesting place."

Kate found a pheasant's nest. We actually found several of these.

Kate & Anna were trying to find a walking stick.

You can see our house through the trees. Scott has been back in these woods behind our house several times. I never have been because in the summer it is laden with tons of poison ivy. He showed me around today and I fell in love with the possibilities!!

Scott showing me the open area for our family campout!! (Eventually!)

Scott has been working on building a bridge to cross over the stream so we can get to our family campout!

Fun in the Icey Snow
