"How did the act of praising God set a person free from the battle she faced?....Praising God was an act of trust, a way of putting aside the cares and troubles of this world and looking to God alone...that's where the battle was won." (Taken from "Someday" by Karen Kingsbury)
In the book, the character was reading the story found in 2 Chronicles 20. It is the story about Jehoshaphat and God's people being threatened by the enemy army that greatly outnumbered them. God's people were fearful that they would lose the battle because it seemed too big and impossible to win. However, the Lord spoke, "Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's." (vs. 15) The next morning Jehoshaphat appointed a group to sing and a group to praise the beauty of holiness as they went before the enemy army. Verse 21 says they repeated, "Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever." While they were singing and praising God, being faithful to His command, the Lord then set ambushes for the enemy army unbeknownst to His people and the enemy army was defeated.
Whenever I have been facing a pickle (a small or giant one), my mom has always encouraged me to "just put my praise music on and sing." She has told me that since I can remember. It is all starting to click and I am having one of those "AHA" moments! Thank you mom for your Godly example! To those who may be facing a battle, no matter how great or small, sing and give Him the praise and leave the battle up to Him. Remember, it's not your life - It's His!!

thanks for sharing your wisdom, i miss our talks in the apartment! i have to tell you i was in charge of getting 4 of the kiddos out the door this morning to get Caleb to school by 8:30, needless to say we were all grumpy. so i put on my praise music. and then the grumping continued in the backseat so i turned it down and shared your wisdom with my kiddos, the music went back up, nice and loud all the way to school. when we got out of the car, i turned to caleb and asked if he got his grumpies out? how blessed we are to freely worship our God and be released from the grumpies! are you coming to visit?
