So....I signed up to participate in a local homeschool group co-op. The class started this past Wednesday. There are about 40 kiddos in this class, all in the same room. It was a little nuts but I loved it. Seriously, the energy was invigorating! The topic is OHIO! The instructor started by reading a book and then we began working on creating what she called a 'lapbook'. We did a lot of cutting and pasting, which with 40 students in the room became very noisy. Kate sat with some friends from church at a different table and I stuck close to Anna at a different table. As the energy and excitement began to escalate I could tell Anna was beginning to struggle a bit. I know she can be a little sheepish in new situations but I had no idea the noise would bother her so much. It was like she couldn't hear herself think. She was intensely working to complete the task while very loudly announcing, "Mom, I don't like this!" "Mom, can we go home?" "Mom, ugh...please!" "I am NOT coming back next week!" Another mom heard Anna and quite honestly I couldn't do anything but laugh. With all that was going on in this room no one heard her except for me and this other mother, who I had just met! :) When the instructor began to explain it was time for students to sign up to do a biography on a famous Ohioan Anna stated, "NO! I am NOT doing that!" Again, I don't think anyone heard her except for me and this other mom. It was hysterical! Seriously! When we climbed into the car to go home I did purposefully antagonize her just a teensy weensy bit by asking her if she was ready to go back next week. She did not think I was very funny. Ha!
Just so you know....we are going back! It only cost $5 a child, we need out of this house, it is beneficial to the girls to be in this setting with other kids, and well, it is just FUN! :) Anna will adjust and be just fine! Kate signed up to do a report on Annie Oakley. I am really super excited about this and we have already ordered several books and videos from the library!
