Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

What a grand time!  Two weeks ago (my, my, where does the time go?) we took the girls to see Mary Poppins Broadway at the Ohio Theater.  It was soooooo cool!  This was their first exposure to Broadway!  Yeah!  I wanted to completely and totally surprise them by having everything packed in the car and tell them Sunday afternoon that just the four us were going to go for a ride.  Well, I should know better.  Scott's family is horrible...completely, totally, 200% horrible at keeping secrets.  This is seriously one of my biggest pet peeves and will literally test my salvation!  Hahahaha!!  I know it seems like a "no big deal" issue but my parents were totally incredible with surprises.  I love giving surprises (nice ones...I am soooo not a practical jokester!)!!  So anywho, Scott had let the cat out of the bag a little tiny bit in letting Kate know we had something planned for them later that day.  Ugh!  Scott's mom had also told the girl earlier in the week, real quick in passing after a commericial aired about the show, that Mommy & Daddy were taking them to see it.  I could have seriously killed her!  ; )  She claims I didn't tell her it was a surprise.  Whatever...I know better!

So anywho the girls were absolutely relentless in guessing what it could be.  I told them they had to go into their room after lunch and wait until we told them it was time.  Yeah...I huffed around and got a little grouchy but I got us all packed and ready.  We loaded into the car and our first stop was LONGHORN!!  We figured we should get a good meal in our tummies because it was going to be a long show.  We used my coupon that I mentioned earlier and enjoyed dessert.  Longhorn is a very special treat because it is soooo expensive and our girls are a little spoiled.  They expect steak!  Hahahaha!  So anyhow, we told them to hold on for the next surprise which was literally right around the corner since we had another gift certificate to stay at the Drury Inn.  YEAH!!  They were so excited!  They saw their nice dresses getting carried in and kept wondering guessing we would be going to see Mary Poppins.  It didn't help that the hotel clerk enthusiastically asked during check in,  "Are you ladies going to see Mary Poppins tonight?"  Seriously people!!  Anywho we chilled out for a bit, I curled the girls' hair because they love it, we got ready, and we found our way to the theater.  They were mesmerized by the grandioseness of the theater, feeling as though they were princesses going to a ball.

The show was amazing!  It was so fun to watch the girls enjoy the show.  Anna began to grow a little restless, much like her daddy, but hung in there.  Our big dinner at Longhorn wore off too soon so at Intermission Daddy bought us a water and sugar roasted almonds.  I loved it!  The girls weren't quite as impressed and Daddy was definitely not impressed with $8.00 bill.  A bottle of water was $3.00.  Highway robbery for sure!  Our favorites were definitely "A Spoonful of Sugar", "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", & ultimately "Step In Time."  Click below to watch a clip...

The strangest part of the show was when they had gone to the park for the afternoon.  In the movie they dance with penguins and such.  In the live show the very grecian statues come to life and dance around the stage.  We had taken binoculars and the girls were quite surprised by the statues.  Thankfully we had studied the artistic nature of these statues in art (i.e. David).  Strange and weird!  I also missed the "Laughing Uncle" which is in the movie but not in the live show.  Oh well.  Such is life with the stage!

We enjoyed some yummy snacks and hit the hay. The next morning we got up early and enjoyed the free hot breakfast, Daddy went back to get some more sleep and the girls and I hit the pool.  An added benefit to homeschooling is that the girls got the entire pool to themselves.  Yahoo!!  While they swam for 3 hours, I got to not only enjoy their giggles but also read my book!!  Another YAHOO!!
