Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

I have soooo much catching up to do.  Ugh!  I am more sorry for myself because I love the idea of the blog being a "scrapbook" of our family and yet I am so behind.  Maybe this will be a good "winter evening" project.  Anywho, we are really enjoying this week of Honda shutdown which means Scott is home the entire week.  I know people have a hard time understanding why I am so protective with our time but this is "vacation" for us.  Scott only gets two weeks of vacation a year, the week of July 4th and the week between Christmas and New Year's.  He does get other vacation days but since he does not get sick days he must reserve those other vacation days for emergencies.  We are having so much fun.  We went to visit his grandpa and grandma on Monday and had dinner with my parents, along with aunts and uncle on Monday night.  Tuesday and Wednesday were so incredible because we had NO PLANS!  I actually cooked a full meal and we ate at the table...just the four of us both nights!  Tuesday night we played Bible Baffle and then Life.  Last night after dinner we used a gift certificate I had for the Farmhouse Ice Cream Parlor for ice cream.  Crazy I know but hey, it was a ton of fun!  We stopped at Walmart for some supplies and then came home and cozied up with hot tea and a new movie, Samantha, An American Girl Holiday.  Tonight Scott and I are going to have dinner with a family from church.  We are leaving the girls with some family friends because we think they might enjoy themselves better there since this family doesn't have any young children.  Friday we have a full day planned with dentist appointments, meeting up with Scott's friend from Honda, and then an evening spent with Mike & Pat...our dear friends from when we lived in Mount Vernon.  I had texted Mike and told them we were bringing a surprise with us.  Pat just HAD to call me this morning dying to know the surprise.  Hahaha!  She asked if I was pregnant.  Ha!  That would be a miracle!  Anywho she died laughing when I told her it was a karaoke machine!  :)  We are going to have a blast.  Normally we plan something fun and friend-filled for New Year's Eve but I told Scott I think I would prefer to just be home.  He was so happy and shocked because I love hanging out with friends and every opportunity to do so.  Sunday will be busy with church and then heading to the farm to celebrate the New Year with pork and saurkraut.  Life is good!
