JIF Peanut Butter

Over the last few months Kate has asked me several times if I will send her peanut butter when she goes to college.  "Well of course I will!" is my reply.  She then asks I specifically send her the "J" peanut butter.

Just in the last week or two I have been wondering if peanut butter might be an irritation to Kate's ezxema.  A friend mentioned she noticed marked improvement in her son's ezxcema when she stopped giving him PB so I have stopped giving Kate PB.  Now she is telling everyone she is allergic to peanut butter.  ;)  She also told me she is now sad because I won't be sending her "J" peanut butter when she is in college.

Just so you know, Kate is NOT allergic to PB to my knowledge as we have not had her tested.  Her ezxema has improved greatly though since not giving her PB.  Last year she mainly bought her lunch.  This year she packed and PB & J was our favorite stand-in.  Kate doesn't particularly care for PB but I would make her eat it because it is easy.  Her ezxema was the worst it had ever been this winter.  Anyhow, this is way more than you want to know but like I have said, I need to record this so I don't forget and who knows, maybe you do find it interesting.

This is actually VERY interesting. Three of my kids have eczema. Two of them are really bad at times. I think I'll give this a try. :)

I wonder if you could try a substitute like almond butter or sunflower butter. Trader joes has a whole section with those spreads.

Hi Cara,

I also have had really bad exzema all my life. I don't eat peanut butter at all but not for that reason. However, I have found that avoiding chemically filled soaps and lotions and supplementing with liquid D3 drops has greatly reduced it. I had the best skin ever this winter. I use Burt's Bees products and get the D3 drops at a health food store.
