VBS: Hero Headquarters

Before we left for Disney our church held VBS.  I had signed up to be the CRAFT organizer.  Luckily I have some of the bestest friends at church who I was able to rope in to helping me.  It was definitely a TEAM EFFORT and we had an absolute BLAST!!  The theme for VBS this year was Hero Headquarters: Where Kids Join Forces With God.  The whole premise of the week was based on I Timothy 4:12 (one of my favorite verses) "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity."  WOW!!  As the crafting team we had brainstormed some really great ideas but it just so happens that my mind is always working to try and do something more.  Anyhow after talking and praying about it, we ditched our original ideas and came up with the idea to have the kiddos make different parts of a superhero outfit.  I can't even begin to fully tell you how amazing and awesome it was to be a part of this VBS!  Everything came together perfectly!  God was alive and working and ruling from His throne!!  So let me explain further our superhero crafting costume...
On Monday:  Heros Take Action...The Superheros made salvation bracelets so they can take action and share the Gospel!
On Tuesday: Heros Step Out in Faith...The Superheros made masks because "We walk by FAITH, not by sight."
On Wednesday:  Heros Save the Day...The Superheros "can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens them" so they made capes.
On Thursday:  Heros Stand for Truth...The Superheros made Bible covers because the Word is the sword of the Spirit!

After each group we would wrap up our crafting session by singing a song from our preschool curriculum (shhhh...don't tell the older kiddos)!  The song was a huge HIT!!  Awesome!  The older kids first looked at us like we were crazy for wanting them to sing with us, but by the last night there were some kids asking if we would sing it tonight!  LOVE IT!!

Here is our crafting crew: Miss Millie, Miss Jennifer, Me, Miss Lois, Miss Jacque, MIss Allie, Miss Andrea (missing is Miss Kim)!  I made each of us these capes (thanks to the help of my aunt) and the t-shirts.  The curriculum called crafts Power Projects.  We didn't think it would be appropriate to put PP on our t-shirts so we did SP for Super Projects!  My dad helped me with the design of the SP.  He is so amazing!  The way the Lord worked out all the little details was so overwhelmingly amazing!  He cares for us so much and wants us to truly excel when we are doing things for His glory!  What a privilege it was to serve Him in this endeavor!  We had close to 100 kids come each night and 5 children made decisions to follow Jesus!
