Thankful Tuesday

As I have mentioned, we are doing traditional homeschooling this year and we are in high heaven!  We all seriously love, love, love it!

Because I couldn't make up my mind AND because someone is loaning me the Math-U-See Alpha curriculum I am going back and forth between Primary Math and Math-U-See.  Crazy I know!  Also, because I knew I would most likely be able to resell these incredible blocks if I didn't like Math-U-See I won a double set, including a 2 wooden boxes, on eBay for an incredible deal!!  PRAISE THE LORD!!  We made our own version of 'Decimal Street.'  I love it!!

These are our "First Day of School" pictures a few days after our actual first day.  HA!!

I wanted one with the girls together and standing so I can gauge their growth.

This is Kate's most recent smile.  :)  I have noticed a change in her spirit in the last few weeks that I feel is challenging me in my parenting.  I keep thinking about how this is just the beginning.  I also keep praying for her to gain understanding and the assurance of her salvation and the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit in her life.  Today was much better than the past few days!  Praise the Lord!
I was shocked when Scott showed me we actually had corn, from our own garden.  I had checked on it maybe two weeks ago and didn't think we were going to yeild anything worthwhile.  Boy was I ever wrong.  The girls were so sweet and shucked the corn tonight and we got it all ready to freeze.  We had just finished preparing close to 130 ears of corn yesterday with my extended family so they were fully aware of the process.  Today I let them try cutting the kernels off the cob and scraping it down for all the extra yummy juices.  Anna was good to go, other than we might have a few bites of cob in there.  Kate struggled.  She lacks patience with herself when experiencing a learning curve.  She is so used to learning things quickly and doesn't have patience for the "practice" required when learning a new skill.  We are working on it though.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to work on this with her here at home instead of possible frustration that could overcome her in a public school.

These are ears of corn truly from our own garden.  WOW!!  It was soooooo good!!  And yes, those are tomatoes from our garden.  I have already frozen a TON of tomatoes!!  I love it!!

Kate was taking the pictures and took this picture of my 'garbage bowl' goods, although there is no bowl.
The corn is ready to bag!!

I found this lone cob that someone had snuck to eat for themselves.  Hmmmm?

So, as this day comes to an end I can't help but be ever so thankful to my Savior for the sunshine, the provisions from our garden, my girls, the time spent with them, their health, a day of incredible learning, the privilege and freedom to be able to teach them myself, and a husband who works so hard to provide for our family.

Great school pics. :) I am thrilled that you are happy with your new curriculum. Praying for a blessed school year for you all.

The veggies look so tasty. Garden veggies are the best. My favorite thing to harvest is onions. I LOVE onions and feel extra happy when I know I can just go out back and pull one up. Sadly our onions had a problem this year. Good thing for Kroger.
