Scott and I have been having some great discussions about what we are learning through our reading of Numbers and the Psalms. Today we talked about the Israelites and their constant complaining. We also talked about how they were so easily deceived and led astray by the Moabite woman who seduced the men and invited them to the sacrifices of their gods. We are by no means, whatsoever, experts or theologians so please be forewarned these arejust our thoughts. The Israelites saw firsthand the power and miraculous wonders of God Himself through the parting of the Red Sea, manna provided for food each day, water coming from a rock, let alone being led around the desert by a cloud and pillar of fire and yet they questioned Him, complained, and were so easily distracted. I can't help but think about how God's heart must be so upset at the current state of His church. I wonder how much of His church He has cut off, or even people who think they belong to His church but don't. The apostacy and heretical teachings truly blow my mind. The "Emergent Church Movement" is like a wild prairie fire that can't hardly be controlled. Pastors who don't even believe in the Holy Trinity. The church is jaded and it's own people are becoming desensitized to these false teachings. A few posts ago I was talking about my personal ban on 'extra books.' Argh...I don't have a problem with 'extra books'. I use commentaries to help me understand further these chapters I am reading each day. But I beg you to vett the authors. Who are these people? What do they really believe? Is it truly Biblical or are they just big names that can draw a great crowd so they must be okay? Just because they have some "verses" in there, is it "The Truth?" The devil is out to seek and destroy. His best ammunition is the church itself. Pray for discernment and get into the Word.

Amen sister!!!! I also am reading through the Bible and just finished Numbers. Chris and I had a conversation very similar to yours and Scott's. Measure everything against the Bible...the whole Bible...not just parts. If you do that, you find the holes and falsities in some of the popular teachings.
I miss you so much! I love hearing your convictions and thoughts and how you desire Truth and seek the Lord... I miss our Sunday nights... as iron sharpens iron... you and Scott mean a lot to us...
